Cultivable marine fishes - Lockdown study Material

Cultivable marine
fishes

The Convention on Biological Diversity 1993 identifies mariculture as a
rapidly developing industry

The mariculture
potential of India is vast as there is great scope for developing farming
of  sea bass, groupers, mullets,
milkfish, apart from prawns, oyesters seaweeds etc

The open sea cage culture has been expanding in recent years on a global
basis

(Read the notes of Mullets, milk fish, Seabass here)

Groupers

generally sold alive at a size range of 0.5–1.2 kg per fish, with the average
weight for table-size fish being 850 g. These can be cultured in cages
